5 Good Habits to Do in the Morning to Improve Your Day

When we wake up in the morning, we all wish for a good day. Here’s to making it so and not just wishing it. The Leuchtturm1917 recently rebranded and with the rebranding, it inspired us to create this post.

Building a morning routine is like building a habit. Habits are not easy to form, but once they form, they tend to stick around. Here are five habits you would want to consider trying!

Habit 1: Sleep Earlier, Wake Early

It’s easier to just stay in bed (of course), but to build an intentional life, it starts with waking up a little earlier, and if you go back a little, it’s sleeping earlier.

Bullet journal trackers are in full supply if you ever need to understand what a sleep tracker is.

You can use a circular tracker as @mydailybullet does. Alternatively, some users prefer a bar graph.

Habit 2: Take A Cold Shower

Scares the living daylights out of you because it’s so shocking. But it’s good, because it wake you up! Runtastic by Adidas gives you a few reasons why you should do that!

  • Improving your circulation
  • Improving your health
  • Stimulating weight loss!

Habit 3: ‘Lists are Liberating’

Plan Your Day in the Morning

One of the 8 things that the guys over at Leuchtturm1917 mentioned is that ‘lists are liberating’.

Making a lists of things that you have to do may seem overwhelming and pressurizing to some, but it also means that you have a clear idea of what you want and need to do – some people make their to do lists more aesthetic looking, others just scribble. Whatever you choice of writing/listing, the point is to do it.

So grab a cuppa coffee and open that notebook.

Your lists ideas can be as easy and minimalist as this:

It can be dolled up with highlighters because colour makes us happy am I right? Besides the use of highlighters, you can also categorize your lists into various categories – chores, school, work, family, personal, etc

Habit 4: ‘Writing Trains the Mind’

Write a Journal Entry, or Blogpost

It seems unfair to ask a half-awake you to think so hard in the morning, but it is actually a very good habit to sit down and journal for 10-15 minutes about the day before or the week so far. It is a good habit to do so. Writing and reflecting helps you clear your mind off anything that was bothering you from the previous day and lets you start the new work day fresh!

Habit 5: Watch the News Headlines for Five Minutes

It always helps to stay in touch with the world around you. Whether business news, or science and technology, or even local news, keeping updated will keep you on the go and also give you something to talk about later in the day.

Especially if your life and job requires you to be aware of these things, in a growing and fast paced environment, just take five minutes of your time to check out the headlines.

Leave a little space in your bullet journal to jot down any main news headlines you would need to know that may impact you in whatever way or that you would need to remember for that meeting, presentation, or paper later on.

Habit 6: Writing is Thinking on Paper: Think About Your Finances

Review Your Spending

You can do this at the end of the week or the end of the month if you wish. There are many things to think about in the day and perhaps how much you spend would not be a primary consideration.

Reviewing your spending would help you to ensure you stay on budget for all expenses and also allow you to help remind you to pay all bills on time!

Trackers are not limited to finance trackers. You can learn more about trackers in this post.
