Crafting Quality Paper Since 1920 – The Maruman Story
Founded in 1920 in Tokyo, Japan, Maruman Co., Ltd. began with a simple mission: to create high-quality sketchbooks for middle school students. In pursuit of excellence, the founder journeyed to Europe to acquire spiral notebook machinery—introducing this innovation to Japan for the very first time.
Maruman’s legacy of innovation continued with the development of the plastic binder in 1967, followed by the launch of its iconic Report Pad series in 1995, celebrated for its minimalist and refined design.
At the heart of Maruman’s craftsmanship is a deep commitment to understanding how paper is used. With a strong research focus on practical paper binding, Maruman carefully designs paper types tailored to specific needs—whether for studying, sketching, painting, or journaling.
One of its most beloved product lines is Mnemosyne, named after the Greek goddess of memory. Sleek and professional, each Mnemosyne notebook features a durable cover and robust twin-ring binding—making it a favorite among creatives and professionals across Japan and beyond.
