Leuchtturm1917 Drehgriffel NR. 2 Mechanical Pencil - Olive

The Red Dot Design Award winner 2022 in the stationery category, Leuchtturm1917 Drehgriffel Nr. 2 Mechanical Pencils, constructed from aluminum, offers a pleasant grip and is perfect for various artistic purposes like writing, drawing, and sketching. Its lacquered brass tip ensures a well-balanced weight, enhancing writing comfort. Unlike the Drehgriffel Nr. 1, this pencil features a fine steel tip that seamlessly connects with the 0.7-mm graphite lead. The graphite shade of the unique tip and twist button emphasizes the functionality and personality of the Nr. 2 pencil.

Dreh – Griffel: a clever wordmark that incorporates a play on words. The design of the 'Drehgriffel' wordmark draws inspiration from 'Sütterlin,' a German lettering style developed in the 1920s for handwriting instruction. The intentional juxtaposition of the wordmark's old-fashioned German style creates an engaging contrast with the modern design. The compound German word 'Drehgriffel' combines two elements: 'Dreh' (referring to the innovative twist mechanism) and 'Griffel' (a reference to the ancient Greek writing tool, the 'grapheion'). This combination clearly reflects the deep roots of LEUCHTTURM1917, a traditional German company. It is not a coincidence that the birth of the Drehgriffel and the establishment of Leuchtturm Album Publishing House both trace back to the 1920s.
